Now, a year since purchasing this Whirlpool direct drive washing machine I can, with confidence, say that the decision to purchase it was a sound one. It seems to handle loads with much better balance and less shaking and vibration than the Duet that it replaced. The duet was a good one that lasted 10 years with a lot of hard use. Lets see how this one holds up. Since this is newer technology I did go ahead and purchase the extended warranty.

Purchased new 4/2018, worked well until 9/2019. Door locked light blinking and could not clear or open door. Estimate to replace 2 boards $700. Very disappointed in quality for washer price. Expect more than 18 months service. Six years use expected by one reviewer is not satisfactory for price.

Will never buy a Whirlpool again. I purchased this machine in January 2018 and I am writing this review in September 2019. For the past two months, this machine has either a F03-E01 and/or Lo-FL error code. The store's repairman has come out 4 times and replaced 3 different parts. It still has the same error code. Now, I am waiting for a control board come in so they can replace that and see if that helps. They don't actually know what the problem is, they just replace different parts. All the while, I have a less than two year old machine that doesn't work and I am lugging laundry back and forth to a laundromat! Thankfully, I purchased the 5 year warranty so I am not out $$$ but my frustration level is thru the roof! On a positive note, when it works, it works great. Too bad, mine, I guess, is just a lemon.

Got a new house and got all new appliances all whirepool brand (an oven, fridge, washer,dryer, dishwasher and microwave) literally every single appliance has had to have service. The drawer on fridge was cracked, the microwave light wouldn't come on, dishwasher didn't dry, dryer wouldn't turn on, washer wouldn't come on. Multiple repairman and parts replacement all less than a couple months from getting the appliances! The worse was every time the parts were on back order so we would be multiple months without that appliance. Customer service didn't care and now less then 2 years old and less than a year since the last repair the $1000 washer is not working again. Seems to be the control panel needs replaced yet again since it doesn't even come on. But now of course it's out of warranty. What a waste of money and it's just a junk machine. Pay $1000 for an appliance that stops working then takes months to fix and then breaks again. Never ever will I buy a whirepool brand again!

We've had it for a year and a half. We do 1-2 loads per day, and we've had literally no issues with it at all. It is a little louder than our previous washer when filling with water, but it's in a pantry with doors so it's not very noticeable. Water filling is only a short duration of the wash cycle. Very happy, highly recommended machine.

Little did I know how much technology has changed with washing machines. My previous washer was 23 old before it finally couldn't be repaired any more. I should have stop putting good money into a bad washer! My new Whirlpool Front Load Washer is amazing! It holds so much laundry I can be done quicker and get on with my day. My clothes come out clean and I trust this machine not to "tear up" my delicates. I should have replaced my old machine years ago! Thank you Whirlpool!

Washer does not use enough water to even get clothes wet. Whirlpool unable to make work properly. Youtube full of this issue. No adjustment on this model. Have to carry buckets of water and add to wash to get to work correctly.

Got it for Christmas. Gets clothes clean an spins clothes pretty dry an water held in the gasket of the door is Very Small Amount, which is Great! Easy to wipe out. Four drawbacks of the washer is sound level is Low to Medium (if your standing next to it, sounds like jet engine starting up), 2nd doesn't indicate what stage it is in(wash, rinse), 3rd lowest delay of wash setting is 50 minutes, 4th I hear a loose item when you move the inside drum by hand an it sounds like something metal or plastic moving around the outside of the drum. (Going to call customer service about this.)
Still please with the washing machine.

Very unhappy with this machine! Purchased in August and needed repair by October. The machine was shutting itself off after 10 minutes in cycle. Any cycle. Clothes were soaking wet and fabric softener was left in the drawer. I chose this washer because it had a drain and spin option as my old washer did this at the end of its life. THE REASON..the repair man explained the machine senses the wash tub is out of alignment and turns itself off. What has whirlpool done for me...sent out a repair man, ordered an entire new drum for my machine, took 3 weeks for drum to arrive, sent repair man back to my house to replace drum. Repair man had 'shoulder issues' and I had to help him lift the 500 pound dryer off said washer so repair man could replace the entire inside of said machine. Result...Machine stopped working again 2 weeks later!!! Repair man is scheduled to return tomorrow. Will follow up. Currently Very Disappointed. Try another machine

My Husband and I bought washer about month ago. Been no problems. We wipe down the inside of the rubber gasket with old cotton T-Shirt. And leave the door ajar for little bit of time. We do not have any problems with smells. We have used most of the washing choices with no problem.
Because our washer is outside, after every use we wipe it down and cover to minimize exposure to outside elements.
We are extremely happy with our choice. We researched many different washers thru consumer report and on line reviews and felt this particular front load washer was the right one for us.

Beautiful machine . Just enough cycles for my need. I am enjoying the steamer on my Whirlpool dryer . Haven't tried the washer yet. (steam) The instruction manual is very helpful . So far the clothes come out cleaner than my old smaller washer. Thought I better get it now on sale . I read an article about how the W company might have to raise prices due to the tariffs . And I do want to support a local American company. The only thing about these Whirlpools is the on/off button is hyperreactive . It goes on often if you reach for something or brush up against it. Yesterday I accidentally moved the setting knob while moving something ( if is extremely easy to move) and the washer turned on and locked the door and I freaked out . The lock door light was flashing and I thought I broke it. I couldn't get the machine to turn on or off and the door was locked. So I unplugged the machine from the electrical outlet and then plugged it back in. I couldn't find anything in the manual about a flashing door lock. But it finally stopped flashing and reset itself.

This machine replaces an ancient Toploader (Whirlpool as well) about 20 to 25 years old. What an improvement. Everything is so much cleaner. It also has a huge capacity. I was able to wash a Queen comforter which is kind of over-stuffed down alternative. I know some machines will get unbalanced with a very large load but I have not had that happen, and I have washed some very very large loads. I bought it because it is one of the very few that has the steam option, which I hardly use but felt it should have.The only issue I have is that sometimes it seems the liquid detergent spills or drips from the compartment. It's happened a few times and I cannot figure it out. Other than that, I am very pleased.

We bought our house and immediately hated the 10 year old washer and dryer we were left with. We found this Whirlpool set and they looked great and were big enough to fit all of our clothes in one wash. I have many different types of clothing, delicates, workout, casuals, towels, bedding etc. This washer handles everything perfectly with no leaks, no loud rumbles and definitely cleans very well.
I love the different setting and I especially love that you can see how much time is remaining on the cycle.
It looks as good as it washer also which is a plus.

I've had this washer about a month. I have had an issue with laundry pods not fully dissolving and ending up in the gasket, so I'm transitioning over to liquid detergent. Other than that, it seems to work fine.

This is our second front loading washer. Our first was a Whirlpool and was one of the first front loaders they designed. There was an issue with it almost right away, and Whirlpool replaced the tub and many other parts. Because of the good service, we didn't hesitate to buy another Whirlpool. This one seems much sturdier and we are happy with it.

I think they could have made the dials more convenient to understand.It is very noisy and when I told the service people this they said that it was normal.
